Inferno Resampled, a LoD 1.09 B/C/D mod by Myokai
------- ---------- - --- ---- ----- --- -- ------

The first version of the Inferno mod contained numerous problems, most notably the fact that it was almost impossible for starting characters; this version attempts to fix those problems, by toning down the difficulty of the monsters and improving the characters themselves.

Changes since the previous version:

-Characters get *much* more life for each point of Vit and at level-ups (much much more), and their walk/run speed is increased.
-Monster damage, speed and HP decreased... a lot. Annoying bloodstar attack of shamen removed. No more spectral resistance.
-Added seven new skills, being Anger and Passion for the barb, Soul Raider and Chaos Gate for the necro, and Wake of Armageddon, Necro Tower and Death Tower for the assassin.
-New runewords and uniques removed. They sucked.
-Some minor changes.

TO INSTALL
-- -------

-Just copy the enclosed Patch_D2.mpq, D2Game.dll and D2Client.dll to your LoD folder. Do not forget to backup the originals :)
-Do not use your existing characters. The results will resemble your D1 character after excessive use of cauldrons and goat shrines :)

**** NOTE: DO NOT FORGET THE DLL FILES; they might be invisible, depending on your Windows settings, but you need them ****

Without them, none of the new skills will work. I noticed a few posts on the Forums regarding the fact that they got only one skill point per level-up, which is probably because they forgot to copy the dll files. It seems to be unusual for a mod to include dll files, I know, but this mod has them, and you need them.

GENERAL
-------

-You get 4 skill points on each level up. The idea is to have a wide selection of skills to choose from in combat instead of being forced to specialize in 2-3 skills.
-Every skill is improved, except the uber skills. All stats of all skills changed.
-Missiles can hit party members. They do no damage, but the missile will disappear. This also applies to enemy missiles!
-All new icons. Of course they suck badly, but at least they serve to have something new, and to inflate the filesize. Will probably get replaced by new icons in the next version.
-New ambient light effects on many levels. Early parts of Act1 and especially Act3 have a creepy greenish look, and the monastery is blood red. Travincal is black/red, Act5 ice caves now look icy, the Act2 cellar starts to glow blue when ou approach the portal etc. (hardware renderer/D3D mode only)
-Static Field can again bring enemies down to 10% of their HP in all difficulty levels. Read the description of SF and you will see why.
-All lightning travels faster. The chain lightning type spells have increased detection range. The targets no longer need to stand on each others' toes to be hit. (actually, waking up the entire level (and then some) is just one click away :) )
-The usual stuff: increased inventory, no exp loss, and the 'socketable gloves, boots and belts' and 'always assassin mods on claws' plugins...
-Critical hit bug for certain characters fixed.
-Some armors look different on the character.
-Corpse Explosion crushed. Poison Explosion improved.
-Minions no longer scale with difficulty level.
-Magic level of item using minions (valk, shadows) increased allowing them to get the uber items *YOU* want so dearly.

NEW SKILLS
--- ------

Amazon - Vampiric Strike: melee attack that steals life and mana.
Amazon - Valkyrie Heart: aura that lowers enemy DR.
Amazon - Ice Javelin: adds cold damage to thrown javelins.
Amazon - Valkyrie Wing: aura that slows enemy missiles.
Amazon - Chaos Strike: adds a chaos of piercing chain lightning to melee attacks.
Amazon - Frozen Crown: ice javelin that releases frozen bolts.

Assassin - Wake of Blight: trap that decreps enemies.
Assassin - Wake of Armageddon: trap that casts meteors.
Assassin - Necro Tower: trap that shoots bone spirits.
Assassin - Frozen Spire: trap that casts frozen orbs.
Assassin - Death Tower: trap that shoots bone spirits and explodes corpses.

Barbarian - Anger: melee attack that causes earthquakes.
Barbarian - Heal Party: restores some HP of caster and all nearby party members.
Barbarian - Blood Rage: melee attack that steals life and mana.
Barbarian - Passion: melee attack that casts fire wall.
Barbarian - War Cry: radius increases with level, burning damage is unresistable.
Barbarian - Bear, Lion, Eagle Totem: warcries turned aura.

Druid - Earthquake: causes an earthquake (doh!).
Druid - Thunder Fangs: melee attack that releases charged bolts.
Druid - Frozen Claws: cold damage melee attack with massive cold length.
Druid - Hurricane: now an aura, useable when shapeshifted.
Druid - Apocalypse: fire eruptions that follow the caster, useable when shapeshifted.

Necromancer - Soul Raider: quick homing magic damage projectile.
Necromancer - Chaos Gate: randomly directed poison or lightning attack at targeted area.
Necromancer - Bone Wall: minions no longer attack them, and they accept auras (THORNS hehe).

Paladin - Blessed Hammer: unresistable spell that causes holy flames that do damage over time.
Paladin - Holy Chant: area effect freezing around targeted area.
Paladin - Holy Shock: very small radius, high damage. Second most damaging skill in the game.

Sorceress - Fire Star: expanding ring of fireballs.
Sorceress - North Star: expanding ring of cold, radius increases with level.
Sorceress - Mana Shield: temporary invulnerability for a second or two, ten second timer.

All existing skills tweaked for damage and mana cost. Sanctuary does absolutely massive damage, the resistance auras are much better than Salvation, Faith (Prayer) rules at high levels, etc.

ITEMS
-----

-Most affixes are new. ALL affixes have different stats. Basically, the affixes were created from scratch.
-Many powerful affixes have some kind of sting in the tail, like Life Drain or +Requirements.
-Much more and better Chance to cast skills.
-Charged affixes are now either auras (do not worry about them having only 1 charge, they do not use it up) or USEFUL skills like Mana Shield. No more 'Frozen Orb (14/60 charges)' or something like that on rares forcing you to pay scary amounts of gold the first time you repair the item.
-Speed and range of all missile skills modified.
-+to skill tree and +to character items are abundant. +to skill tree appears on jewels.
-Some armors have a different look on the character.
-All affixes come with their own pretty colors. Do not mix and match them or you will look like a clown.
-Wands are necro only, and scepters are pal only. Think this over for a moment.
-Affixes on orbs absolutely SUCK. You should be getting the message by now.
-Staves have a +mlvl attribute similar to the one on circlets. Orbs bad. Staves good.

CRAFTING
--------

-Crafting recipes not implemented yet, but the conversion formulae '2 runes = 1 rune of next higher grade' for all runes are already there. See runeorder.txt.
-Also present are recipes to craft rings with various spell charges.
1 Magical Ring + 2 Perfect Diamonds: Ring with charges of Lower Resist
1 Magical Ring + 2 Perfect Rubies: Ring with charges of Decrepify
1 Magical Ring + 2 Perfect Topazes: Ring with charges of Static Field
1 Magical Ring + 2 Perfect Amethysts: Ring with charges of Mana Shield

BUGS
----

-'I only get one point per level-up' or 'the new skills don't work' problems mean that you have forgotten to install the dll files as well. They might be invisible depending on your system's settings, but they certainly are there, and you need them. If you do not know how to get Windows to show hidden files, call the Microsoft helpdesk. They eagerly await your call :)

-Slight problem with +to Poison Damage affixes sometimes showing 0 poison damage over 1 seconds. Not too harmful; 1 damage or 0 damage, they both suck.
-Using Anger or Passion with shift-click causes the earthquake or firewall to appear, but do no damage. You need to HIT the target with your weapon to make the skills do damage.
-Some funny affix combos. A 'scepter of the specter', 'creepy cap' or 'bloody hard leather armor'. Not sure if I should fix this :)
