Introduction
============

This "D2MagicCube" Mod contains a collection of many new, easy-to-use Horadric Cube recipes (hereafter referred to as Cube Mod) for the purpose of generating all types of original, unmodified game items. Creating items this way using your own original characters in the unmodified game always preserves the originality of the file format of your saved characters. File corruption or item errors, which may occur as a result of using 3rd party Diablo II character or item file editors/trainers, is therefore excluded. Furthermore, because all items can be created immediately and directly on your game character, transferring of items from or to other characters ("item muling") is not necessary anymore. If your character has grown out of its equipment, just throw it away or sell it to the vendors, and create the next one.

The Cube Mod is intended for the "Single-Player" mode of the game only! The items generated with it won't work and cannot be used in the Closed Diablo II Battle.net realms, the online game servers hosted by Blizzard.

Contents
========

Following is an overview of the ZIP archive contents:

- A modified game patch file (MPQ format) named "patch_d2.mpq" which contains the new Horadric Cube recipes for generating all game items incl. special items like the 'Token of Absolution' for quick stat/skill respecs, and a small modification for spawning a weak version of the level 110 "Diablo Clone" which drops the high-level unique charms like 'Annihilus' and 'Hellfire Torch'. Furthermore, the look of the elite sets has been restored to patch 1.09 state, where they did not yet have the partly overdone coloring and the Valkyrie glow effect. This patch file is for Diablo II "LoD" version 1.13 (beta) only!

- A collection of 100% original, fully equipped and skilled high-level Diablo II characters which showcase some of the patch version 1.13 equipment created with the Cube Mod. These characters are 100% original and have not been edited. Note that these are very powerful, advanced characters, so you may want to increase the game difficulty by using the "/players X" (X = 1 to 8) multiplayer simulation option. This in-game option, by the way, is recommended anyway once you notice that the game starts to get too easy. Multiplayer simulation also improves the item drop rates until about 4 players.
The characters are pre-skilled with some common stats and skills. If you don't like the choices, that's no problem either because you can reset all stat and skill points since patch 1.13. This is possible through a quest reward from Akara (quest 'The Den of Evil') and through a special new item called 'Token of Absolution'. These tokens can of course be created "on the fly" through the Cube Mod, too, and each premade already has one token in the stash in case you want to respec right away. Furthermore, the F9 - F12 keyboard keys have been assigned to skill 9 - 12 respectively for these premades (through the 'Configure Controls' option panel).

NOTES:

- The files in this ZIP archive are stored in different folders. Therefore, extract the ZIP file with the "Extract using folder names" option!

- As mentioned already, the included character files are 100% original games files which have never been manipulated using 3rd party Diablo II editors or trainers. In order to keep everything 100% original and flawless, it is therefore recommended that you avoid using such tools to manipulate the files (i.e. the character level, experience points, quests, waypoints, items or Mercenary settings) but use the included Cube Mod in the original game instead to add the items you want.

Installation and Usage
======================

Important Notes
---------------

- Before you start using this Mod, always make a backup copy of your original game characters (the files named "<character name>.d2s" located in your "\Diablo II\save" folder), and a backup copy of the original game patch MPQ file (the file named "patch_d2.mpq" located in your "\Diablo II" installation folder)!

- This Cube Mod contains the new Cube recipes as well as the original Cube recipes. However, only the Cube Mod recipes are documented here in this ReadMe file. If you need information about the latest original Cube recipes, refer to the "Items/The Horadric Cube" section in Blizzard's own game information pages called "The Arreat Summit" (URL: http://classic.battle.net/diablo2exp/).

Installation of the "D2MagicCube" Mod
-------------------------------------

1.) Make a backup copy of your original game characters (the files named "<character name>.d2s" located in your "\Diablo II\save" folder), and a backup copy of the original game patch MPQ file (the file named "patch_d2.mpq" located in your "\Diablo II" installation folder).

2.) Copy the modified "patch_d2.mpq" file from the ZIP archive to your "\Diablo II" installation folder, i.e. "C:\Diablo II".

3.) Copy any of the provided Diablo II characters you wish to use to your "\Diablo II\save" directory, i.e. "C:\Diablo II\save".

4.) Start the game and have fun!

NOTES:

Even though the Single-Player "patch_d2.mpq" is not used for playing in the Closed Battle.net, it is recommended to always copy the original "patch_d2.mpq" back to the "Diablo II" installation folder before connecting to the Battle.net.

Using the "D2MagicCube" Mod
---------------------------

The Cube Mod can be used only in the "Single-Player" or in the "TCP/IP Multiplayer" (LAN) mode of the game. In order to use its new recipes, you will of course need the "Horadric Cube", a quest item which can be found in the 'Halls of the Dead' (on level 3) in Act 2. If your own game character is not yet in posession of this item, you must solve the "Horadric Cube" quest first before you can use the recipes. If you have a TCP/IP network (LAN), you can of course also mule the Horadric Cube from one of the provided game characters onto your own character via the "TCP/IP Multiplayer" feature of the game. If you choose to use one of the provided high-level characters, then getting the Cube is not necessary because each characters already owns one.

When you have installed the Cube Mod as described above, and when you are in posession of the Horadric Cube, do the following:

1.) Start the Diablo II game

2.) Create a new game with your character

3.) Create the items you need using the new Cube Mod recipes described in the following chapters

4.) When you're done creating items, save your character with the new items by leaving the game

5.) Create another, new game and continue to play

Item Creation Recipes of the "D2MagicCube" Mod
==============================================

Important Notes
---------------

This Cube Mod contains the new Cube recipes as well as the original Cube recipes. However, only the Cube Mod recipes are documented here in the following chapters. If you need information about the latest original Cube recipes, refer to the "Items/The Horadric Cube" section in Blizzard's own game information pages called "The Arreat Summit" (URL: http://classic.battle.net/diablo2exp/).

Introduction
------------

The "Horadric Cube" is not only the game's most powerful single item, but also - unlike 3rd party Diablo II editors/trainers - the only "legit" item creation engine. Any item created with it follows 100% the original game rules and is generated in the correct format unless of course you would alter, for example, the game's affix tables which are used to generate the pre- and suffixes on magic items. But providing cheat-items, or super-powerful crafting recipes that don't exist in the original game, is not the purpose of this Mod.

The Cube Mod provides just a number of Cube recipes that allow you to generate and get access to almost any item originally designed and intended for the game. While the original set of Cube recipes allow you to transform quest items, socket items, upgrade runes, gems and - since patch 1.10 - even items, or create some new magical and crafted items, the Cube Mod goes a step further and unleashes the Cube's full power. The Cube can, for example, transform any normal, basic item into its unique or set counterpart - it just has to be told to do so with a recipe. Such a recipe looks, for example, like: "take item 1 and some other items as input, and give me the unique version of item 1 as output".

Magic affixes on items are generated randomly, and this Cube Mod takes no influence on it. It would be easy to remove the randomness of all affixes by setting their worst (minimum) values equal to their best (maximum) values in the respective game tables, notably MagicPrefix.txt and MagicSuffix.txt. But the author thinks that always ultra-perfect magic, rare, set or unique items would remove a bit too much of the game's originality and fun. The author has therefore not provided perfect versions of said game tables, but if your item has been generated with too mediocre or poor results, you can simply "reroll" it in the Cube until you are satisfied with the number and quality of the affixes (see the chapter "9.) Simplified Item Rerolling" for more information).

The quick access to all (and the best) items in the game, using just the Horadric Cube on your own character, allows you to test all items you have in mind, and it makes the transfer of items from or to other characters ("item muling"), which is usually not an option for a non-networked single-player anyway, unnecessary. Since patch 1.13 you can even test different stats/skills without restriction, because a new special item called 'Token of Absolution' allows you to reset all stat/skill points with one mouse-click. This item normally requires you to farm various essences from 'Hell' difficulty act bosses in the unmodified game, but in the Cube Mod, you can create it with just some common ingredients you can buy from the vendors in town.

General Hints
-------------

- For item questions (types, stats, values etc) refer to the "Items" section in Blizzard's own game information pages called "The Arreat Summit" (URL: http://classic.battle.net/diablo2exp/)

- If you want to purchase basic items required for the Cube recipes, but don't yet have enough gold, just transmute a scroll of town portal into a high-level rune (see the "Rune Cycler" recipe below) and sell it to the vendors. If you need more money, repeat this until you have enough.

- Some typical application examples will be given after the recipe lists in the chapter "Item Creation Examples using the Cube Mod"

- All items generated using this Cube Mod will have their item level (ilvl) set to 99, which means in pratice that they can get the best magic affixes and the maximum possible number of sockets per item type.

1.) Basic Item Creation Recipes
-------------------------------

These recipes allow you to create basic items (Runes, Gems, Charms, Jewels, Rings and Amulets) which are also required as ingredients in the next Cube recipes. These often used recipes are kept very easy, so that you don't need to look them up anymore after a short while.

1.1.) Rune Creator + Cycler

Explanation:

By putting a Scroll of Town Portal into the Horadric Cube and pressing the "Transmute" button, a "Zod" Rune (Rune 33) will be created. Pressing the "Transmute" button once more, transmutes the "Zod" Rune in the Cube into an "El" Rune (Rune 01). Pressing the button again creates an "Eld" Rune (Rune 02), and so forth. This "Rune Cycler" works up to the second highest rune in the game ("Cham"). When the "Cham" Rune (Rune 32) is reached, the next transmutation will create again a "Zod" Rune (Rune 33).

For this Rune Creator, the "Zod" Rune instead of the "El" Rune has been chosen as first rune because this way, a Scroll of Town Portal can be transformed into 35,000 pieces of Gold with just one button-click (a "Zod" Rune is worth 35,000 Gold in HELL difficulty when sold to a vendor). So, ten Scrolls of Town Portal can be easily transformed into 350,000 Gold if you need money quick.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

The Horadric Cube code doesn't seem to like for some reason AXES as input for the exceptional/elite upgrade recipes listed in chapter 3.1. 3.) Normal Armor + Weapon Creation and Upgrade to Exceptional/Elite/Superior/Ethereal Recipes
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With the following recipes, you can

- make normal or superior armors/weapons of the same type as the input item REGARDLESS of the input item's magical state (magic, rare, crafted, set, unique). This allows you, for example, to purchase a magic Gothic Plate at Larzuk and transform it into a normal or superior Gothic Plate with no magical properties.

- upgrade previously created, purchased or found armors/weapons to their exceptional and elite counterparts, again REGARDLESS of the input item's magical state (magic, rare, crafted, set, unique). For example, a magic Gothic Plate bought at Larzuk and 3 Stamina Potions will result in a normal Laquered Plate (elite Gothic Plate) with no magical properties.

- transform any previously created normal (or superior) armors/weapons into their ETHEREAL superior version (useful for ethereal Rune Word items)

IMPORTANT NOTE:

The Horadric Cube code doesn't seem to like for some reason AXES as input for the exceptional/elite upgrade recipes listed under 3.1. To work around this limitation, exceptional/elite Axes must be created directly from ingredients that are NOT Axes. You can find the extra recipes for Exceptional/Elite Axe Creation under the Normal Axe Creation recipes in chapter 2.15.

3.1.) Normal Armor/Weapon Creation + Upgrading to Exceptional/Elite

Stamina Potion + Any Weapon -> Normal Weapon of the same type *
Stamina Potion + Any Armor -> Normal Armor of the same type *

2 Stamina Potions + Any Weapon -> Normal Exceptional Weapon of the same type *
2 Stamina Potions + Any Armor -> Normal Exceptional Armor of the same type *

3 Stamina Potions + Any Weapon -> Normal Elite Weapon of the same type
3 Stamina Potions + Any Armor -> Normal Elite Armor of the same type

* NOTE: You can only UPGRADE - not downgrade - items with these recipes. You cannot downgrade, for example, a magic Thunder Maul (an elite weapon) with 1 Stamina Potion to a non-magic Great Maul, or with 2 Stamina Potions to a non-magic Martel de Fer. It will stay a Thunder Maul after the transformation, although with removed magical properties. This means, on the other hand, that you don't have to use the Normal Elite Item Creation recipe with 3 Stamina Potions if you just want to transform your magic Thunder Maul into a normal, non-magic Thunder Maul. 1 Stamina Potion will do it already. You will discover more of these "shortcuts" while playing with the Cube Mod.

3.2.) Superior Armor/Weapon Creation

Stamina Potion + Diamond + Any Weapon -> Superior Weapon of the same type
Stamina Potion + Diamond + Any Armor -> Superior Armor of the same type

3.3.) ETHEREAL Superior Armor/Weapon Creation

Any Normal Weapon + Diamond + Eth -> Ethereal Superior Weapon of the same type
Any Normal Armor/Shield + Diamond + Eth -> Ethereal Superior Armor/Shield of the same type

4.) Armor + Weapon Socketing Recipes
------------------------------------

These recipes allow you to add any number from 1 up to 6 sockets to your items, handy especially for the creation of Rune Word items.

4.1.) Add maximum allowed number of Sockets

Any Weapon + 2 Perfect Skulls -> Add max. (6) sockets to Weapon
Any Armor + 2 Perfect Skulls -> Add max. (4) sockets to Armor

4.2.) Add 1 Socket

Any Weapon + Chipped Skull -> Add 1 socket to Weapon
Any Armor + Chipped Skull -> Add 1 socket to Armor

4.3.) Add 2 Sockets

Any Weapon + Flawed Skull -> Add 2 sockets to Weapon
Any Armor + Flawed Skull -> Add 2 sockets to Armor

4.4.) Add 3 Sockets

Any Weapon + Skull -> Add 3 sockets to Weapon
Any Armor + Skull -> Add 3 sockets to Armor

4.5.) Add 4 Sockets

Any Weapon + Flawless Skull -> Add 4 sockets to Weapon
Any Armor + Flawless Skull -> Add 4 sockets to Armor

4.6.) Add 5 Sockets

Any Weapon + Perfect Skull -> Add 5 sockets to Weapon
Any Armor + Perfect Skull -> Add max. (4) sockets to Armor

5.) Unique Item Creation Recipes
--------------------------------

These recipes will transform your items into their unique counterparts.

Note on unique Amulets, Rings and Jewels:

For these item types (and some armors and weapons, i.e. Spired Helm or Scourge), several unique items exist. The generation of these is random and dependent of a "rarity" factor, so it may take a while until you get the right unique item. Keep on cubing. :)

Note on unique items and their generation in the game:

Unique items of any type can only be generated *ONCE* per game. If, for example, the unique amulet 'Highlord's Wrath' has been generated once, the next time another 'Highlord's Wrath' amulet was chosen by the random item generator, it will be a rare instead of a unique amulet. So, whenever you try to generate unique items where several of their types exist, just continue with the transformations (ID Scroll + Item) until you have generated the unique item you want. If you are not satisfied with the stats of a particular unique item you have just generated, you must - as said above - leave the game and start a new one before you continue.

Note on Unique affixes with random quality:

Many unique items in the game have varying unique affixes which can influence the item quality significantly. The unique Colossus Blade 'The Grandfather', for example, can have an "Enhanced Damage" affix that lies anywhere between 150% and 250%. If you are not satisfied with the result, simply "reroll" the item in the Cube. Note that in the case of unique items, you must leave and create a new game before doing so, because unique items of the same type can only be generated ONCE per game (also see the note above).

Note on unique Charms like 'Annihilus' (patch 1.10) and 'Hellfire Torch' (patch 1.11):

These unique items normally require a special Closed Battle.net game event ("World Event") featuring a special, very high level (level 110) superunique monster called the "Diablo Clone" to be generated (dropped). Its generation is not possible with the Horadric Cube, but you can find and kill a weak, low-hitpoint version of the "Diablo Clone" in some dungeons in this Mod to get these charms (see chapter 13 for more information).

Note on ETHEREAL unique Armors and Weapons:

It is possible to create ETHEREAL versions of unique Armors and Weapons, however any item that carries the "Indestructible" affix, i.e. the unique Colossus Blade "The Grandfather", will NOT be generated as ethereal item.

5.1.) Unique Amulet + Ring Creation

ID Scroll + Amulet -> Unique Amulet (Random)
ID Scroll + Ring -> Unique Ring (Random)

5.2.) Unique Jewel + Charm Creation (since version 1.10)

ID Scroll + Jewel -> Unique Jewel (Random)
ID Scroll + Grand Charm -> Unique Grand Charm (only one Grand Charm called "Gheed's Fortune" exists so far since patch 1.10)

5.3.) Unique Armor/Weapon Creation

ID Scroll + Any Weapon -> Unique Weapon of the same type
ID Scroll + Any Armor -> Unique Armor of the same type

5.4.) ETHEREAL Unique Armor/Weapon Creation

ID Scroll + Eth + Any Weapon -> Ethereal Unique Weapon of the same type
ID Scroll + Eth + Any Armor -> Ethereal Unique Armor of the same type

6.) Set Item Creation Recipes
-----------------------------

These recipes will transform your items into their set counterparts.

Note on Set Amulets and Rings:

For these item types (and some armors, i.e. Belt), several set items exist. The generation of these is random and dependent of a "rarity" factor, so it may take a while until you get the right set item. Keep on cubing. :)

Note on Set items and their generation in the game:

Unlike unique items, the generation of set items of any type is *NOT* limited per game, thus speeding up their creation through "trial-and-error" (especially in the case of set amulets) significantly.

Note on Set affixes with random quality:

Some set items in the game have varying set affixes which can influence the item quality significantly. The weapons of the 'Aldur's Watchtower' and 'Griswold's Legacy' sets, for example, can have a varying number of sockets (which can be used to enhance the damage of the weapon). If you are not satisfied with the result, simply "reroll" the item in the Cube.

Note on ETHEREAL Set Armors and Weapons:

ETHEREAL versions of Set Armors and Weapons don't exist.

Note on the 'COW KING'S LEATHERS' Set:

The 'COW KING'S LEATHERS' set can only be dropped by the Hell Bovines (Cows) in the 'Secret Cow Level'. It can not be created with the Horadric Cube. To provide faster access to these popular set items however, the 'Cow King' superunique boss in the NORMAL difficulty of the game now drops the *full* set (helm, armor, boots) if you kill him in this Mod. The 'Cow King' in the NIGHTMARE and HELL difficulty still drops as usual, so if you want the full set quicker, just kill the 'Cow King' in NORMAL difficulty.

6.1.) Set Amulet + Ring Creation

Chipped Emerald + Amulet -> Set Amulet (Random)
Chipped Emerald + Ring -> Set Ring (Random)

6.2.) Set Armor/Weapon Creation

Chipped Emerald + Any Weapon -> Set Weapon of the same type
Chipped Emerald + Any Armor -> Set Armor of the same type

7.) Rare Item Creation Recipes
------------------------------

Following is a selection of recipes that allow you to create some good rare items with random affixes, which is similar to what you would find (with some patience) on the battle field.

Note on rare items and their generation in the game:

Rare items can have a random number of rare (yellow) affixes from 3 to 6 - up to 3 prefixes and up to 3 suffixes. This means that any number of affixes between 3 and 6 can appear on the item. If the result is too mediocre or poor, just "reroll" the item in the Cube until you are satisfied with the number and quality of the affixes.

Note on Rare affixes with random quality:

Rare item affixes are randomly selected from a large pool of sometimes greatly varying Rare affixes which can influence the item quality significantly. The "Cruel" Enhanced Damage affix (new on Rares since patch 1.10), for example, can lie anywhere between 201% and 300%. If you are not satisfied with the result, simply "reroll" the item in the Cube.

7.1.) Rare Missile and Melee Weapon Creation

Chipped Topaz + Any Weapon -> Rare Weapon of the same type (Random Affixes)

* Note that the "Mechanic's" affix for rare items can have 1 or 2(!) sockets, which allows to add yet another 100% Enhanced Damage on top of the "Cruel" (up to +300%) and "Master's" (up to +150%) affixes if you insert two OHM runes into the sockets. Refer to the "Items" section in Blizzard's own game information pages called "The Arreat Summit" (URL: http://classic.battle.net/diablo2exp/) for details about the values and value ranges of the used affixes (magic item pre- and suffixes).

7.2.) Rare Armor/Shield Creation

Chipped Topaz + Any Armor/Shield -> Rare Armor/Shield of the same type (Random Affixes)

7.3.) Rare Circlet Creation

Chipped Topaz + Circlet -> Rare Circlet of the same type (Random Affixes)

Chipped Topaz + Ring -> Rare Ring (Random Affixes)

7.5.) Rare Amulet Creation

Chipped Topaz + Amulet -> Rare Amulet (Random Affixes)

7.6.) Rare Jewel Creation

Chipped Topaz + Jewel -> Rare Jewel (Random Affixes)

7.7.) ETHEREAL Rare Armor/Weapon Creation

Chipped Topaz + Eth + Any Weapon -> Ethereal Rare Weapon of the same type (Random Affixes)
Chipped Topaz + Eth + Any Armor/Shield -> Ethereal Rare Armor/Shield of the same type (Random Affixes)

8.) Magic Item Creation Recipes
-------------------------------

The following selection of recipes allows you to create some very good magic items using a selection of the best magic (blue) affixes possible.

Note on magic items and their generation in the game:

Magic items can have 1 or 2 magic (blue) affixes - 1 prefix and 1 suffix. Unlike rare items however (3 to 6 affixes), the two affixes set in these Cube recipes will always appear both on the generated item because the number of minimum affixes cannot be lower than 2.

Note on magic affixes with random quality:

Magic affix values can have a quite wide range. The "Cruel" Enhanced Damage affix, for example, can lie anywhere between 201% and 300%. If the result is too mediocre or poor, just "reroll" the item in the Cube until you are satisfied with the quality of the affixes.

8.1.) Magic Jewel Creation

Chipped Sapphire + Jewel + Ko -> Scintillating Jewel of Truth
Chipped Sapphire + Jewel + Fal -> Vermillion Jewel of Bliss
Chipped Sapphire + Jewel + Lem -> Rusty Jewel of Carnage (Level 18)

* The "Vita" affix on the following Grand Charms is set to the affix that gives +40 Life (max.) because the level requirement for this affix is much lower than that for the "Vita" affixes that give +45 or +50 Life respectively. Refer to the "Items" section in Blizzard's own game information pages called "The Arreat Summit" (URL: http://classic.battle.net/diablo2exp/) for details about the values and value ranges of the used affixes (magic item pre- and suffixes).

9.) Simplified Item Rerolling Recipes
-------------------------------------

In many cases the items will have just mediocre or poor stats when you first create them. The following simplified recipes allow you to "reroll" such items much quicker than you would if you use the full item creation recipe again.

You can also reroll non-magic, normal items. This is handy for items with varying defense values (any armor) and for items which have varying so-called "auto-mods" (i.e. any class-specific weapon/armor or wands/staves/scepters). Note that if you roll and optimize the defense value or auto-mods on such items, that these will *NOT* be kept if the item is later transformed into a magic item (rare, set, unique)! Rerolling defense values or auto-mods on normal items makes therefore only sense if you want to socket that item later for use with Rune Words (defense and auto-mods are kept in this case).

Example:

You have created a bad rare Weapon (with random affixes). Instead of using again the full recipe (Chipped Topaz + Any Weapon -> Rare Weapon) to create a new rare Weapon, simply press the "Transmute" button now, and the rare Weapon will be rerolled with new random affixes. This simplified rerolling is made possible because the previously non-rare Weapon has been transformed into a rare Weapon (into "rare state") during its first creation. Once in "rare state", the Weapon can be identified as rare item input for quicker rerolling.

"Simplified Rerolling" (by just pressing the "Transmute" button) is possible for the following item types:

- Unique Items (Weapon, Armor, Amulet, Ring, Jewel) *
- Unique Ethereal Items (Weapon, Armor) *

- Set Items (Weapon, Armor, Amulet, Ring)

- Rare (yellow) Items (Weapon, Armor, Amulet, Ring, Jewel) - with new random affixes
- Rare (yellow) Ethereal Items (Weapon, Armor) - with new random affixes

- Magic (blue) Items (Weapon, Armor, Amulet, Ring, Jewel, Charm) - with new random affixes
- Magic (blue) Ethereal Items (Weapon, Armor) - with new random affixes

- Normal Items (Weapon, Armor) - useful for rolling defense values and/or item auto-mods
- Normal Ethereal Items (Weapon, Armor) - useful for rolling defense values and/or item auto-mods

* Note that in the case of unique items, the same unique can be generated just *ONCE* per game. If only one unique exists for a certain item type, i.e. the "Stormspire" unique Giant Thresher, you will have to leave the game and create a new one before you reroll the item. If however more than one unique exists for an item type, i.e. for Amulets, Rings, Thunder Mauls or Spired Helms, you can continue with the rerolling in the same game until you have generated the unique item you want. When you get a rare instead of a unique item during this process, just add an ID Scroll (= original Unique Creation recipe) before the next roll until you get again a unique item.

10.) Quest Item Creation Recipes
--------------------------------

The following recipes allow you to create some important quest items quickly:

Perfect Skull + El -> Horadric Staff
Perfect Skull + Eld -> Khalim's Will
Perfect Skull + Tir -> Hellforge Hammer
Perfect Skull + Nef -> Jade Figurine
Perfect Skull + Eth -> Lam Esen's Book

NOTE: The Horadric Cube can unfortunately not be created with a Cube recipe. ;)

11.) Portal Item Creation Recipes
---------------------------------

The following recipes allow you to create some important portal items quickly:

ID Scroll + Tome of Town Portal -> Wirt's Leg (required to open the red portal to the 'Secret Cow Level' in Act 1)

(Normal) Key -> Key of Terror (required for portals of the Pandemonium Event (Battle.net only yet))
2 Keys -> Key of Hate (required for portals of the Pandemonium Event (Battle.net only yet))
3 Keys -> Key of Destruction (required for portals of the Pandemonium Event (Battle.net only yet))

TP Scroll + (Normal) Key -> Diablo's Horn (required for portals of the Pandemonium Event (Battle.net only yet))
TP Scroll + 2 Keys -> Baal's Eye (required for portals of the Pandemonium Event (Battle.net only yet))
TP Scroll + 3 Keys -> Mephisto's Brain (required for portals of the Pandemonium Event (Battle.net only yet))

12.) Crafting Support (for the original Crafting Recipes)
---------------------------------------------------------

The following recipes add support for the original "LoD" item crafting recipes. Crafting recipes require a specific magic item (or its exceptional/elite counterpart) as one of the ingredients, and the Cube Mod adds for this purpose recipes that allow you to transfrom any input item into its magic (blue) counterpart.

12.1.) Magic Item Creation Recipes (for Crafting)

Chipped Sapphire + Any Weapon -> Magic Weapon of the same type (Random Affixes)
Chipped Sapphire + Any Armor/Shield -> Magic Armor/Shield of the same type (Random Affixes)
Chipped Sapphire + Circlet -> Magic Circlet (Random Affixes)
Chipped Sapphire + Ring -> Magic Ring (Random Affixes)
Chipped Sapphire + Amulet -> Magic Amulet (Random Affixes)
Chipped Sapphire + Jewel -> Magic Jewel (Random Affixes)
Chipped Sapphire + Charm -> Magic Charm (Random Affixes)
Chipped Sapphire + Any Ethereal Weapon -> Ethereal Magic Weapon of the same type (Random Affixes)
Chipped Sapphire + Any Ethereal Armor/Shield -> Ethereal Magic Armor/Shield of the same type (Random Affixes)

13.) Special Unique Charms
--------------------------

Unique Charms like 'Annihilus' (patch 1.10) and 'Hellfire Torch' (patch 1.11) cannot be created with the Horadric Cube because their item level is too high. These unique items normally require a special Closed Battle.net game event ("World Event") featuring a special, very high level (level 110) superunique monster called the "Diablo Clone" to be generated (dropped).

However, you can find and kill a weak, low-hitpoint version of the "Diablo Clone" in some dungeons in this Mod to get these special charms. The selected dungeons have just the "Diablo Clone" in them - so simply go inside, find the clone, take care of its first attack, hit and loot him. It just has the minimum possible hitpoints.

13.1.) Annihilus

The "Diablo Clone" which drops the 'Annihilus' unique small charm can be found in NORMAL difficulty of the game in the 'Abaddon', a subzone in the Frigid Highlands (Act 5) which can be entered through the red portal there.

13.2.) Hellfire Torch

The "Diablo Clone" which drops the 'Hellfire Torch' unique large charm can be found in NIGHTMARE and HELL difficulty of the game in the 'Abaddon', a subzone in the Frigid Highlands (Act 5) which can be entered through the red portal there.

14.) Essences and Token
-----------------------

The following recipes allow you to create various important essences and token quickly:

Antidote Potion + ID Scroll -> Essence of Suffering
2 Antidote Potion + ID Scroll -> Charged Essence of Hatred
3 Antidote Potion + ID Scroll -> Burning Essence of Terror
4 Antidote Potion + ID Scroll -> Festering Essence of Destruction

5 Antidote Potion + ID Scroll -> Token of Absolution (resets your current stat/skill points when clicked with the mouse)

NOTE: The 'Token of Absolution' gives you one free reset of your current stat/skill points, just as if you would use Akara's similar reward from the Act 1 quest 'The Den of Evil'. Be careful, though - if you right-click the token with your mouse, the reset will be instant without further notice!

15.) Miscellaneous Recipes
--------------------------

15.1.) Full Rejuvenation Potion - Quick Creation Recipe

Any Health Potion + Scroll of Town Portal -> Full Rejuvenation Potion

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q: How do I create the full 'Trang-Oul's Avatar' Necromancer Set?

A:

- STEP 1: Identify the item types and their base item types

The base item types of the Trang-Oul's Set can be looked up in the "Items/Set Items" section in Blizzard's own game information pages called "The Arreat Summit" (URL: http://classic.battle.net/diablo2exp/):

Helm = Bone Visage (Elite Bone Helm)
Armor = Chaos Armor (Exceptional Full Plate Mail)
Shield (Necro Shrunken Head) = Cantor Trophy (Exceptional Gargoyle Head)
Belt = Troll Belt (Elite Heavy Belt)
Gloves = Heavy Bracers = (Exceptional Chain Gloves)

Once all item types are identified, you can start to create their Normal base item types (i.e. Bone Helm), then upgrade these to their Exceptional or Elite counterparts (i.e. Bone Helm to Bone Visage), and finally transmute these to their Set counterparts (i.e. Bone Visage to 'Trang-Oul's Guise'). Following are the steps in detail:

- STEP 2: Create the base item types

In the above chapter "2.) Normal Armor + Weapon Creation Recipes" under the subchapter "2.9.) Helm Creation", you can find the recipe for creating a Bone Helm. Look up the recipe (Stamina Potion + El + Amethyst -> Bone Helm) and check which recipe input items (left side of the arrow) are required to create the helm.

The Stamina Potion can be bought at a vendor, but not the El Rune and the Amethyst. You need to create them, and the recipes for these can be found in the first item creation chapter "1.) Basic Item Creation Recipes".

The three subchapters "1.1.) Rune Creator + Cycler", "1.2.) Chipped Gem Creator + Chipped Gem Cycler (Gem TYPE Cycler)" and "1.3.) Gem QUALITY Cycler" show how to create these two items. An El Rune can be created from a Scroll of Town Portal ("Rune Cycler"), a chipped Amethyst from a Health Potion (Gem TYPE Cycler), and the chipped Amethyst upgraded to an Amethyst by using another Health Potion (Gem QUALITY Cycler). Buy the Scroll of Town Portal and two Health Potions at a vendor and create the items using the Horadric Cube. Then, put the Stamina Potion, the El Rune and the Amethyst into the Cube and create the Bone Helm.

- STEP 3: Upgrade the base item types to their Exceptional/Elite counterparts

In the chapter "3.) Normal Armor + Weapon Creation and Upgrade to Exceptional/Elite/Superior/Ethereal Recipes" under subchapter "3.1.) Normal Armor/Weapon Creation + Upgrading to Exceptional/Elite", the recipe for upgrading a weapon or armor to Elite can be found (3 Stamina Potions + Any Armor -> Normal Elite Armor of the same type). Buy the 3 Stamina Potions at a vendor, put them together with the Bone Helm into the Cube, and transmute the Bone Helm into a Bone Visage.

- STEP 4: Transmute the normal item types into their Set counterparts

The chapter "6.) Set Item Creation Recipes" has listed the recipes required for transmuting the normal item types into their Set counterparts. To transmute an Armor or Weapon (see subchapter "6.2.) Set Armor/Weapon Creation"), a Chipped Emerald and the item are needed. You create the Chipped Emerald, like in STEP 2, with the same Gem Type Cycling recipe used to create the Chipped Amethyst. Then, put the Chipped Emerald and the Bone Visage into the Cube and transmute it into 'Trang-Oul's Guise'.

Congratulations, you have just created your first Elite Set Item using the Cube Mod, and this with just some potions and scrolls from a vendor! :)

These 4 steps should have shown what the item creation with the Cube Mod is about: You can create *ANY* game item with some simple, basic items which can be bought at the vendors.

Now that you have the 'Trang-Oul's Guise' Helm, you will still need the other parts of the set. Follow STEP 2 to STEP 4 again for every remaining item until you have completed the set.

Q: I want sockets in some of my 'Trang-Oul's Avatar' Set items. What must I do?

A: The chapter "4.) Armor + Weapon Socketing Recipes" lists the recipes for adding any number of sockets from 1 to 6 (max.). For set items, you can use either the recipe that adds 1 socket (subchapter 4.2), or you can use the recipe that adds the maximum allowed number of sockets (subchapter 4.1) which, in the case of set items, is 1 socket (unless you have set items with multiple, built-in sockets, i.e. the 'Immortal King' or 'Griswold' set weapons). Put the item and the required socketing ingredients into the Cube and add the socket.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q: I now need some nice Jewels for the sockets. What must I do?

A: The Cube Mod allows you to create unique 'Rainbow Facet' Jewels (chapter 5.2) and a selection of Magic (blue) Jewels with useful, preset affixes (chapter 8.1). Create some basic jewels using the "Jewel Creator" (chapter 1.5) and transmute these using the recipes found in the chapter 5.2 and 8.1.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q: How do I create an unique Amulet like 'Mara's Kaleidoscope' or a nice rare Necro Amulet?

A: Chapter 5 lists the unique item creation recipes (subchapter 5.1 for unique Amulets) and chapter 7 the recipes for rare items (subchapter 7.5 for rare Amulets). Note and follow the special rules for the generation of unique and rare items. These are described at the beginning of each chapter.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q: Can I make Charms too, especially those for Necromancers?

A: Yes, you can either create or get Magic Charms and Unique Charms. The recipes and instructions respectively are listed in chapter 8.2 to 8.4 for Magic Charms, in chapter 5.2 for Unique Charms, and in chapter 13 for special Unique Charms.
